Costume Institute Gala 2012
Held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum is an annual event hosted by Anna Wintour & it’s fashions most exciting night. This year honored Italian designers Prada & the late Elsa Shiaparelli. I’ve been a fan of Shiaparelli ever since I saw her designs & pieces on display at the Philadelphia Art Museum. I get more excited to see the fashions for this night than any other red carpet event. It’s a chance to have fun, be bold, & take risks. It’s fashion for Gods sake! The night had its misses & its fair share of hits and here are my favorites. I take into consideration originality, how much fun it would be to wear the dress, the honoree’s for the evening & my own personal style, of course.
Believe it or not, I’d have to say my #1 favorite is…
Coco Rocha in the vintage Givenchy jumpsuit. What can I say she had me at yellow & pink!
Second runner up is Christina Ricci in Thakoon. I mean just look at that dress and the back of it. Fuckin Fun!
Third is Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe. I’m usually anti Rachel but kudos for creating such a show stopper. Of course only a supermodel would be able to pull it off. The dress is sensational.
Next up Diane Kruger in the featured designer of the night, Prada. Diane never disappoints me on the red carpet. Her style is effortless. The shade of purple is stunning & the feathers at the bottom give it that extra oomph that is needed for the gala.
Then we’ve got Gwyneth Paltrow also in the designer of the night, Prada. No one can deny how banging she looks.
Last is Jessica Biel also in featured designer Prada. I too would feel like showcasing the honoree of the evening. I love this dress because it has a vintage look to it. It’s a bit under the radar for the evening but I appreciate that. She looks super sexy without looking like she’s trying hard at it.

Homemade belly on a budget
I’ve now been cast as a pregnant girl three times & have had a hand full of people ask me if I really am pregnant while wearing my homemade belly. Here’s the steps I take to create a belly with stuff I have lying around the house.
1. Choose a small pillow (a little goes along way; if it’s too big it’s going to look fake)
2. Find some old tights that you won’t mind ruining. Stuff the pillow into the bum of the tights. Wrap & tie the tights securely around your belly.
3. Make sure to smooth out the pillow to get rid of any lines or major bumps.
4. Wear a somewhat tight fitting t-shirt over the tights for more security.
5. Last step: Put on a flowy, loose top or dress over your t-shirt. You’ll naturally rest your hands on your belly and walk as if you’re pregnant putting on a convincing show for everyone :)
I saw these off the beaten track on Hollywood Blvd & found them interesting enough to photograph. Never a dull moment in Hollyweird.
